Groundbreaking tech is helping us tackle violence against women and girls. Project Archway captures bruising – especially on darker skin – more clearly and at an earlier stage, giving victims a better chance of justice.

I’ve made tackling violence against women and girls a top priority. I joined Sir Mark Rowley in the Met’s Forensic Crime Lab HQ to see revolutionary new technology, backed by support from City Hall, that makes it easier to visualise bruising on victims of violence.

A fascinating visit yesterday to see how technology is making it easier for police to photograph and visualise bruising on victims of violence, particularly on darker skin - closing a gap that could affect the strength of evidence. news.met.police.uk/news/groundbre…

The Met’s revolutionary forensic technology, backed by support from City Hall, is a new way to spot the signs of abuse and build a stronger case against perpetrators. It’s a big step forward in the fight against violence towards women and girls.

New Metropolitan Police tech now makes it easier to detect bruising on darker skin tones. This game-changing innovation will help secure justice for more survivors of violence—part of our mission to end violence against women and girls.

New forensic tech is helping police capture evidence of bruising on all skin tones—including injuries that might otherwise go unseen. Backed by City Hall, it's already improving justice outcomes and supporting survivors from the very first response.

Fantastic to see the work done by CST today, CST are dedicated to keeping Jewish communities safe in London providing security services & supporting victims of antisemitism. I was moved by how they're sharing their expertise with others communities, together we're all safer.

We’re taking a proactive approach to tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) - not just responding after harm is done, but being present to prevent it.

Great work by Metropolitan Police cracking down on predatory gangs exploiting young people. Through MOPAC's Violence & Exploitation Support Service we are helping safeguard and support young Londoners impacted by violence & exploitation, helping them move forward with their lives.

Through the work of the London Drugs Forum we continue to co-ordinate with police, health and local authority partners to reduce the harm caused by drugs and drug-related in our city.

At the 7/7 Memorial in Hyde Park, I joined the Prime Minister and representatives of our emergency services to lay a wreath to honour the 52 people whose lives were cruelly stolen. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all of their loved ones and all those who were injured.

Twenty years on from the 7 July terrorist attacks, London remains united in defiance of those who seek to divide us. I want to pay tribute to the extraordinary Londoners who showed such courage and compassion by running towards danger to help others.

This summer, town centres and high streets will see more police, as part of our collaborative work to tackle shoplifting, theft and anti-social behaviour. We’re working with the Met, local partners and community groups to build safer town centres and a safer London for everyone.

Lord Ian Blair gave decades of dedicated service to the public as a police officer and later in the House of Lords. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. chch.ox.ac.uk/news/lord-blai…
