Looking at Swinney's comments, I really don't think he gets what's happened. I don't think this is about independence, it's about the SNPs shift to the right.

On top of this, there are those 84 seats where winning every single Reform voter still wouldn't have kept them in Tory hands. A really striking proportion - 33 - are now in Lib Dem hands. Usually in the south, usually with very large majorities.

The UK electorate rejected changes to our parliamentary electoral system in a 2011 referendum; are you suggesting we should have another one in case they've changed their minds?

2015 UKIP + Tory 49.5% 2024 Reform + Tory 38% RW vote share down by 11.5% points. Don’t get me wrong, we mustn’t underestimate the damage he can do But please can the press stop making out this result is something that it’s not Same rhetoric, different badge. That’s it 5/5

Take it in. The first female chancellor. The first housing secretary who's actually lived in social housing. The first education secretary who was on free school meals. An energy secretary who actually believes in aggressively fighting climate change. Not a bad afternoon.

An Attorney General who is a genuine heavyweight silk with decades of experience in domestic and international public law? Somebody chosen on the basis of legal acumen and merit rather than their willingness to tell the Prime Minister whatever he wants to hear? Well I never.

Never let them tell you that they're all the same. Never let them suggest politics makes no difference. Never listen to the siren voices who prioritise their political purity over winning. People who would have been sent to Rwanda now won't be, because Labour is in government.

Watch this it’s fascinating - I asked James Timpson what he’d do about prisons and sentencing if he was in charge. He believes only a third of prisoners in jail should definitely be there. He’s now in charge of prisons (but not sentencing).

I voted Labour (in Scotland) this time because I was worried about the narrative of them winning a big seat majority with a low vote-share But I'll be voting Green in the MSP election and the next general election (unless they suddenly become terrible)
