This is what brand means. Not following what others are doing, but figuring who you are and how you want to represent yourself. Communicating what is important. Making something true people pay attention to.

I think this is 3rd of 4th year Linear the Enterprise Tech list. Each year more and more of the companies on the list are also Linear customers. One year will have 100% companies :)

My favorite thing about Linear:
Getting these short but useful project updates in my inbox. Don't have to hunt or ask people for the information, it just comes to my inbox. And I can react and comment directly there.

One thing often happens with redesigns/refreshes is that the team wants to make the app feel cleaner, but it can be easy to do if you just make things less dense (you see less information). I didn't want that.

With Linear app headers and even the inbox looks much cleaner, but…

As one of my first contributions to Linear, this one feels a bit special — very proud of the work we put together with the team 🖤

We wrote about how this new UI was born, from early explorations to a prototype, now available for everyone.

All themes in Linear are now generated from three variables — a base color, an accent color and a contrast percentage. From this, we produce a 'theme', which is 98 colors and a few other variables (shadows etc).

Once you find your reasons for design reset, design the concept — you need to move fast.

It will be challenging to have multiple design directions in parallel, potentially blocking some work on both on design and engineering side.
