I am excited to see this work out in print, fantastic collaboration with the Mannik group: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn… We use causal inference methodology to test the causal relations of DNA replication and cell division in E. coli, across a range of growth conditions. 1/4

Paper now published where we study the cell cycle regulation mechanisms in E. coli. Thank you to Ariel Amir and Männik group for the constant help and guidance!! x.com/Ariel_4321/sta…

My limited knowledge of cell cycle models prevents me from fully appreciating this PNAS paper, web.cs.ucla.edu/~kaoru/kar-eta… but its successful use of graphical models to discover causal links from cell development data makes me confident in seeing more CI applications in genetics.

Barkai Lab We found that this mechanism can lead to higher specificity and faster search, and analyze the "design principles" involved. Work led by Wencheng Ji wc j, in collaboration with Ori Hachmo and Naama Barkai. arxiv.org/abs/2307.11180 3/3

A #postdoctoral position is available in my lab to work on mechanisms of cell cycle control in E. coli. For more details, see: volweb.utk.edu/~jmannik/index… . If interested, please e-mail a CV and a brief description of your expertise to [email protected] . #physicalbiology

Long in the making, Ido Golding and I wrote a Colloquium for Reviews of Modern Physics (narrower in scope than a regular review article), on the coupling of gene expression and the cell cycle: arxiv.org/abs/2311.12143

Our new ms in collaboration with Amir Lab Ariel Amir in bioRxiv sheds a new light on processes that rate-limit cell division in E. coli and proposes a new model for what triggers the onset of constriction. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I recently learnt from Michael Baym 's recent tweet about Betteridge's law of headlines en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridg… Our recent preprint violates this rule :)) biorxiv.org/content/10.110… We ask whether length is a proxy for volume in cell cycle studies in bacteria. The answer seems to be "yes"

I defended my thesis last month !! It was a journey filled with ups and downs. A big thanks to my advisor Ariel Amir for being an amazing mentor! I would like to thank my collaborators, labmates, friends, and family who made my PhD life have more of ups than downs!!

Tap tap…is the🎙️ still on? This work has been in the works for a long time! We studied the growth behaviors and cell cycle timing of individual TB bacilli and ended up with a series of surprises and a lot of new questions. 1/5 nature.com/articles/s4156…

New findings on E. coli cell division: Using high throughput imaging & stochastic modeling, we show that FtsZ—not FtsN—drives constriction at fast growth rates. Great collaboration with Ariel Amir and Prathitha Kar nature.com/articles/s4146… #Microbiology
