This great piece of research by ECIU negates the take that will inevitably emerge in the coming days that fighting climate change was a vote loser on the doorsteps

There have been unconfirmed reports on Sunday that China set a new national temperature record at 52.2C in Sanbao, Xinjiang Province. Incredibly it's roughly 6 months since it also saw a record low temp of -53C. So in that short time it's a swing of more than 100C.

A lot of people on the Right saying the Tories need to ditch Net Zero after Uxbridge (just like they ditched planning reform after Chesham & Amersham). On the polling evidence, they're getting WAY over their skis. Quick thread.

Global temperatures in October smashed the prior monthly record by 0.4C, and were ~1.7C above preindustrial levels. It wasn't quite as gobsmacking as September, but still comes in as the second most anomalous month in what has been an exceptionally hot year already.
