I want people-friendly villages, towns and cities. Have spent lots of time in Seville, want Edinburgh to look much more like it.

Rue de Sebastopol is claimed in Paris as Europe's busiest bike lane but I believe some routes in the Netherlands/ Copenhagen are busier. Still, >4 million-odd trips on one bike lane in a year is exceptional - and yes, it beats London's top route. This is what a dense network does

Jennifer Lopez is the perfect advocate for normalising cycling. Glamour magazine claims J.Lo’s outfits are not practical for cycling, but with a comfortable step through bike, chain guard and mudguards, you can very easily dress for the destination, not the journey.

While watching the #OpeningCeremony of the #OlympicGames in #Paris2024, don't forget: #Paris wasn't always like this: 🚲 800km new bike paths 🌳 170.000 new trees 🚗 40% less car traffic 🤸‍♀️ +200 car free school streets All possible thanks to leadership. Stop making excuses!

One of my favorite things is riding home on a warm summer’s evening. It’s lovely. Looks like I’m not alone in that; many others feel the same way. Imagine if everywhere in London was this joyous to cycle through. There would be far fewer cars & much healthier, happier people.

There’s a problem with speed on this road outside a school. We could - narrow the lanes and expand the pavement - change the surface to make it feel less smooth - add buildouts so it’s not straight - add bollards to remove through traffic No need, we’ve got a plan… ‘SLOW’

This week, I've seen young kids putting goalposts on the road outside their house and playing football. Also seen a dad teaching his two young kids to ride a bike on the street. All thanks to some roadworks. Impact on driving, very low. Impact on people, high. Why go back?

🚄 LONDON TO MAZURY, POLAND - BY TRAIN, BUS & BIKE! 🚍🚴‍♀️ This summer, we’ve been undertaking our biggest flight-free adventure yet! 🤩 Turning a trip to the Olympics and a friend’s wedding in Poland into a wonderful overland adventure with Brompton Bicycle…here’s how! 🧵

Good news if fewer people drive when they visit & instead take the bus, train, walk or cycle. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Dutch masterclass parallel crossing: Continuity of material colour and texture for those walking, wheeling, and cycling, massive stop lines so motor vehicles know what to do. Worked a treat. Cars waited for me 20m out.

Maybe I’m wrong, but despite endless visions, images & consultations, I’m pretty sure Edinburgh city centre is just as accessible to motorists this Aug as it has been for the last decade. Struggling to think of anywhere that’s actually been made more walkable when events are on.

Bike advocacy is too focused on bikes. A connected network of separated bike lanes can support e-bikes, power chairs, e-scooters, and even some microcars. You don't need to be able to use two legs in order to use good infra.

⚠️ Safety alert from an edi bike reader: Granton: Kids have been waiting for cyclists to come downhill where the path goes through the industrial estate to Ocean Ave before Spiers Bruce Way. Watch out for gang of small boys, falsely friendly before throwing rocks at your head!

Roadworks have led to this usually busy road being a space for people. 👀Pram, cargo bike and mobility scooter. The roadworks have been ongoing for more than a month and traffic has adapted fine. Why not put up some planters and keep it like this? 📍Carrington Road, Edinburgh
