Happy Birthday to gay war hero Alan Turing, pioneer of computer science: who was prosecuted in 1952 for homosexual acts. He accepted hormone treatment commonly referred to as chemical castration. He died two years later, aged just 41, by suicide. Today we remember and honour him.

Giving evidence in Parliament today, Junior Smart explained to MPs how the Cost of Living crisis is putting more children at risk of criminal exploitation by county lines gangs.

Ofsted uploaded inspection reports for 13 children’s homes yesterday. Six homes were judged inadequate or to require improvement, or are subject to special measures because of safeguarding concerns. This home in Worcestershire is run by the private company Cove Care.

David Cameron lobbied to get Greensill loans from the Taxpayer. They were paying him £1m a year for 25 days of ‘work’. Less than a year after securing more than £5bn from the taxpayer they went bankrupt. But not before Cameron sold his shares and made another £7m.

So David Cameron is to sit in the House of Lords ("taking back control from unelected officials anyone?") in order to be Foreign Secretary - which means he won't be able to be questioned by MPs in the chamber over foreign policy. Doesn't seem very 21st century.

In my ideal society, libraries would be well-funded and open in the evenings. It would be culturally normal to skip the pub and gather at the public library after work to chat about books and play board games.
