The Tory government’s reckless cuts to policing were a BIG MISTAKE!

We’ve all been paying the price of their incompetence. You can’t trust the Tories with our police service.

Labour will invest in rebuilding community policing to provide a reassuring and visible presence.

🚔 The Tory government imposed reckless cuts on West Midlands Police. ✂️

Thanks to the Tories we now have about 800 fewer police officers and 500 fewer PCSOs than in 2010.

There is no levelling up when it comes to our police officers and PCSOs.

Tackling violence and in particular knife crime is a top priority, because of the devastating consequences. We need robust policing, disruption and enforcement to deal with people intent on causing harm to others.

Combatting VAWG will always be a top priority, because of its catastrophic consequences. We must all be up-standers for women and girls safety and not bystanders to violence, abuse and intimidation.

Prevention, early intervention, diversion and dealing with the underlying causes of crime will always be a top priority, because the prevention of crime will always be better than having to deal with the consequences of crime.

Offenders must be held to account for the consequences of their actions through the criminal justice system and we must prioritise the rights and welfare of victims, to ensure the right advice, help and support in the right place, at the right time.

👮‍♀️👮‍♂️ I will continue to rebuild community policing by recruiting an additional 650 Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers, to ensure a reassuring and visible presence out on the streets to keep people, families, businesses and your local community safe and secure.

The Conservative government were responsible for dismantling community policing.

That was a BIG MISTAKE!

As your Labour Police and Crime Commissioner, I am committed to continuing to re-build it, to keep people, families, businesses and communities safe and secure.

Since being elected in May 2021, I have dedicated myself to justice, safety and security for the people of the West Midlands.

If re-elected on 2 May, I have a plan of action for the West Midlands - to continue to rebuild community policing and prevent, tackle and reduce crime.

In an emergency, it’s essential police get the basics right, so the public can contact the police without delay and police will attend as soon as possible.

I’ve been holding the police to account, to improve the 999/101 service and time taken to respond to calls for service.
