Fantastic to welcome Claire Fox and Mo Lovatt back to The Durham Union for another successful year of Debating Matters, alongside Easter ‘23 President Adam Albazy Neither the students nor Baroness Fox deterred by the anti free speech mob

No: when a court allows you to make submissions - and the ICC specifically permitted the UK to make submissions as to its jurisdiction - it’s bizarre to say you’d be disrespecting the court by making those submissions. Germany made submissions - and the UK should have done, too.

The tribute of Alice's family: "Keep smiling and dancing like you love to do our Princess, like we said before to you, you're always our princess and no one would change that. Love from Your Hero Daddy and Mummy." Inconceivable.

No. This isn’t something to be proud of. I wasn’t paid as a Minister - there’s a limit of 83 paid ministers, and I could afford it. But most people can’t, and we don’t want to go back to a politics which is only open to the wealthy. MPs should actually be paid *more*, not less.

You have until Monday to apply to be in charge of the UK's trade with Poland: a top-15 UK trading partner with £31 billion (up 15% YoY) and buffer against Russia. Pay: £33k. Otherwise, a nearby Bill’s restaurant is advertising for a sous chef: £40k civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/index.cgi?…

The UK’s emergency COBR committee met in 1977 to deal with the possibility that Idi Amin would land at Heathrow with 200 bodyguards to gatecrash the Queen’s silver jubilee. (From Ben Macintyre’s new book on the 1980 Iran embassy siege in London.)

Orwellian censorship tightens its grip. As govt signals Free Speech Act repeal, Durham SU blocks The Durham Union from Freshers Fair. The domino effect of Durham University's Palestine debate cancellation. Our universities: once a marketplace for ideas, now echo chambers of conformity
