Looking at Doug Wildey’s art makes me wish I could have seen the original JQ series with even more pedestrians and extras in it.

Opinions on this show vary, but among show adaptations of DC Comics, I believe this is the first time Jonny Quest has made a cameo appearance or been directly referenced. As far as I know, there were two cameo appearances and one mention accompanied by an image.

Denise is a nice character addition and one that would have been a welcome return character if there had been a season two. Like Jade, keep the relationship simple and unattached, with perhaps a little flirtation between her and the boys.

The Dreadful Doll demonstrates how varied the settings are for each episode. The success to Jonny Quest lies in its ability to provide the right amount of familiarity with the right amount of variety. The episodes never feel repetitive.

Happy Birthday, Doug Wildey! You left behind an insurmountable legacy in the action-adventure genre of animated series and television shows—a series that, even 60 years later, remains timeless and full of new discoveries.
