I'm on the train heading off on my adventure... and yes, I am very aware that I look like a school kid on his first day in nursery!!

The #MilesofSmiles #jokerelay begins! I just met an awesome little lad called Hugo who gave me my first joke. It's a corker... What do you call a burger who burgles things? A hamburgler!!! I'll take that joke now and pass it on. Follow my progress at jondoolan.com!

I'm stopping for a siesta in the shade of a tree (which I have just found out is a holly tree - I hope it doesn't burst my sleeping mat!). I need to avoid the midday sun, and apart from a stop for breakfast, I've been on the go since 4.30 this morning.

Today has mostly been a day of going up and down steep hills... and here's my impression of a sweaty baboon. Follow the adventure at jondoolan.com

BBC weather said there was a 5% chance of rain. Well, I guess that 5% came true. I'm currently hiding under a beech tree by the side of the road waiting for the shower to pass.

Dear Mr Tim Vine, I've been walking from Land's End to John o'Groats collecting jokes. I'm almost at Edinburgh! I know you're a busy man, but as the undisputed Prince of Punnery and King of the One-liners, please could you meet me to share a joke. Jon jondoolan.com

Dear Mr Tim Vine, my name is Jon Doolan and I'm walking Land's End to John o'Groats swapping jokes along the way. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a joke from the Lord of LOLs himself if you've got a moment to spare in the next 2 days. Jondoolan.com

Hey Tim Vine, I'm writing a book about running LEJOG collecting jokes. There's a subplot where I tried to meet you at the Edinburgh Fringe and failed. Any chance you'd like to contribute a joke anyway? Please. Thank you! 🤞🙏

Two weeks until my new book, Miles of Smiles: Finding Britain's Funny Bone is published! It's about the time I "ran" from Land's End to John o'Groats collecting jokes. Well, 99% of the time I was hobbling, stumbling, staggering with massive blisters. jondoolan.com

How good are jokes? They’re pun-believable! Collecting one-liners as I ran made my LEJOG adventure really special. Jokes + Strangers = Smiles 9 times out of 10. There was that incident with the group of goth wannabes in Bridgewater! amzn.to/43ygdlq

What’s brown and sticky? Why are pirates called pirates? How many tickles does it take to tickle an octopus? You can find the answer to all these joke setups and more by getting my OTHER new book – Miles of Smiles: The Joke Book. jondoolan.com/email-sign-up

Can you tell me a joke? A nice idea for framing a long journey and opening conversations along the way: When Jon spent his summer holiday running from Land's End to John o'Groats, he collected a joke from everyone he met: buff.ly/4aN8sKZ

If you had the choice between a direct road and a longer scenic route, which would you choose? Yes, the direct route will get you there faster, but where's fun in that?! If the scenic route brings you joy, the decision is obvious. amzn.to/43ygdlq
