Mixing drugs can either affect the efficacy of the medication when over diluted or lead to toxicity when undiluted. The roles of pharmacists are non negotiable in that space but our greatest nemesis is the lack of adequate clinical pharmacist. Ghanaians deserve better.

As a clinical pharmacist, I have seen cases where we analgesics were overdiluted yet the patient was in so much pain. As I intervened and made them use the right volume the pain was alleviated. A wrongful drug reconstitution leads to medication errors.

Bro when it comes to health every profession that works in that space is relevant. We are talking about equitable recruitment of all health workers yearly. Pharmacists role can be reechoed anywhere drugs are used. Reconstitution is best done between pharmacists and nurses.

Dear Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh , It’s not enough to secure these equipment. Hire enough experts too. Radiographers, sonographers, biomedical engineers, etc. Anyway, kind reminder: #HirePharmacistsNow

Have you ever been counselled by pharmacist? Studies prove that discharge counselling done by pharmacists at the wards leads to reduced re-hospitalization and increases adherence to medications. Imagine how hiring more pharmacists yearly can help reduce burden at our emergencies.

This is very true. Imagine if we had a system on the GHIMS such that before every patient is discharged, the physician/surgeon discharges, then the pharmacist does the discharge counselling based on the physicians discharge plan then nurse finally discharges after bills are paid.
