#OperationAtalanta and the Japanese forces strengthen ties aboard the frigate #CANARIAS .

During the visit, the Japanese 🇯🇵 deployment air force for counter piracy enforcement (DAPE) were able to see first-hand the work of the Spanish frigate as part of 🇪🇺 #EUNAVFOR ATALANTA.

Last month, Rear Admiral Hayamizu ( #JMSDF ) and Colonel Masaka ( #JGSDF ) had the opportunity to speak to students at the Marine Corps University about the importance of the 🇺🇸-🇯🇵 Security Alliance & how it remains at the core of Indo-Pacific security.

Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and the United States uphold the right to freedom of navigation and overflight, and respect for maritime rights under international law, reflected in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
