Biden is about to come on shift with 100 in the waiting room, 24 ICU holds, 6:1 nurse ratios, shortages on PPE, dilaudid, haldol, morphine, ativan, ketamine & zofran. And every patient has covid. Oh & the offgoing team stopped seeing pts 4 hrs ago, and left already w/o signout.

Think about the Black women you know that are killing it in academia - prolific writers, orators, researchers, excellent educators, commanding administrators. Know they are often creating this beauty from the ashes & scraps they were given...all while watching their backs.

If #DNRTulane isn’t dominating your twitter feed, you need to diversify your follows. Black women are tired of speaking up about racism and sexism. I want to do my part to amplify their stories. Academia is better when everyone has a seat at the table.

Appreciate this transparency! It’s helpful for students to have a sense of how a program might review their application.

Happy national thank a resident day to our residents at UNMC IM Residency. Being a physician trainee comes with a lot of sacrifice. Thanks for all you do today and every other day. Love working with y’all.

When putting together your rank list, one question to ask yourself, “would these people support me during a life crisis? Illness, death, divorce. Would they do whatever they can to help me?”

The patient is NOT "a poor historian." The patient isn't a historian at all! The patient is the primary source. YOU are the historian.

It never ceases to amaze me what I learn about my patients from reading their obituaries One gentleman circumnavigated the globe in his own sailboat Another held 40 patents These are grace notes we lose when the 'social history' is just a reductive yes/no checklist of vices

Changing Tylenol from Q6 to QID matters Changing nebulizers from Q4 to Q4 while awake matters No vitals from 11PM-6AM matters Glasses&dentures matter Family visits matter Opening blinds matters Delirium is death by a thousand cuts. Every little detail matters

Can you imagine living in your house for 40+ years and then having someone walk into your hospital room and tell you that you need to move--to a skilled nursing facility or a place that ain't your house--like it's no big deal? News flash: It's a big deal. Even if you need it.

Kids, teachers and staff in Omaha Public Schools system will be in the safest school district in Omaha when school starts. This move will keep kids in school and will likely even save some lives. Thank you for listening to the experts. @OPS_LoganSupt

Dear M3s about to be M4s I put “Ice Cream Sundays” on my ERAS app under hobbies/interests, and it was easily one of the most heavily discussed topics on the interview trail. Just have fun with it 😊

Oh you’re going to a teaching hospital in July? Well get ready… for the most compassionate care from extremely empathetic interns along with their vigilant supervising attendings. Hope you like open ended questions and doctors listening to you bc you’re gonna drown in it.
