My heart is breaking for my MSU family. It doesn’t have to be this way. There is a path forward. Pass gun control. Stay strong Spartans!

This is what a college campus looks like tonight in America. Tomorrow marks five years since the shooting in Parkland. Tonight, the nation is watching as another shooting unfolds at Michigan State University. We don’t have to live like this.

Michigan does not: Require background checks for long guns Have a red flag law Disarm domestic abusers Restrict assault weapons Limit magazine capacity Regulate open carry #michiganstate

Tomorrow is the 5-year mark of the Parkland shooting tragedy. There have been 929 school shootings since Parkland. This time, the shooting is at Michigan State University. Our children are being hunted in their schools.

The only thing I am going to report from the scanner traffic on the Michigan State University active shooter is the dispatchers are pretty amazing. They are calm, direct and tracking an unbelievable amount of information coming at them from so many sources. Incredible work.

Our kids are asked to Run, Hide, & Fight during active shootings at schools because Congress are too cowardly to do their job. #michiganstate #EndGunViolence

If it can happen in Sandy Hook, Parkland, Santa Fe, Santa Clarita, Uvalde, & Michigan State University, then it can happen anywhere. Act before it happens to you.

A number will soon be released, tallying the dead and wounded at Michigan State, and that will frame how "bad" this one was. But many other students have hidden for hours, hoping not to die. Parents are unraveling. Parkland survivors are reeling. Hundreds of victims. Every time.
