Tullow Oil seems to have overestimated themselves. It turns out, they didn't have the financial muscle to fully explore & give the country what it needs. They admitted as such, from the few meetings I attended somewhere in Riverside. They said they want to leave. They r leaving.

The crude oil pipeline was expected to cost Ksh 130 billion. The full field development was put at Ksh 442 billion. Hawa majamaa hawana hii doo... They are "poor". So, wakaamua, wanataka kuuza hii burungo. And so, they started looking for a buyer. Gulf Energy wakatokea.

Now, Gulf Energy, wants to buy them at Ksh 15 billion (from what I have read), and they have promised to start operations and make sure that we tangibly export by 2026. Not many months from now. This thing has been stalling since Kibaki time.
