In 2021, 5.6% of all trips in Paris were by bike, by 2023, with further expansion of the City’s protected cycling network, that number rose to 11.2%.

Got to see San Francisco from above today on a flight out of SFO, which I’ve never experienced before.

Crazy to see how low-density the west side of the city really is from above. There’s no good reason why these neighborhoods shouldn’t be full of 10+ story apartment buildings.

Living near a GO train station is great because you can easily take safe, reliable, and fast transit to Toronto and across the GTHA. But, look how much home prices have increased near GO Stations in 2024 vs 2018. Build more homes near GO, now! More: storeys.com/go-station-tor…

This new project near Yonge and Eglinton is genuinely exciting. The architecture is beautifully designed. And just wait until they release renderings of the new public space! It’s remarkable for our community and city- like bringing Rockefeller Center to midtown Toronto.

hmm? bloor street is such a good urban thoroughfare that nearly half a million people travel along it every single day, with this one neat trick!

It’s scary how much population loss correlates with low density zoning.

By arbitrarily protecting the “sanctity” of low-rise places, Toronto is actively signing away its economic and environmental future.

Simply put, Toronto’s civic leaders do not comprehend how much poorer our city is as a result of this.

Many more people would have access to more productive jobs, higher skill clustering, and higher disposable income, had we not planned away Toronto’s economic future.

Important discussion about a key issue related to NYC’s IBX light rail project: as designed, the line would have to run on the street, slowing trips & limiting capacity.

(If this problem is fixed, we should be asking why this project is light rail, not automated light metro.)

The Interborough Express has the potential to transform travel in New York.

To live up to that potential, however, the line requires a short tunnel through All Faiths Cemetery.

NY shouldn't leave the IBX 515 feet from greatness: /1

Greetings from Montreal, where getting a parking permit for a big SUV costs 80% more than for a modest-sized sedan.

Local leaders hope to nudge people away from bloated cars that endanger others, foul the air, and use extra curb space.

Makes sense to me!

The vast majority of Toronto neighbourhoods have fewer people living in them today than in 1971, despite a doubling in overall in population.

Toronto needs to upzone these neighbourhoods to 6-8 storeys, in particular.

I got curious so here is a thread where I confirm if urban trains run every 2 min or better continuously for at least 1 hour. Turns out, not many places actually run such intense service. Number 4 will shock... JK I'm an adult doing serious posting on this site.

Daylighting is an important tool to make NYC streets safer. Hear Rachel Grosso who lives on UWS explain the benefits and how our 'friends across the river' in Hoboken have had 7 years of zero fatalities.

i've been closely following the decline of toronto's surface transit service for the past 2 years as part of advocacy work. it is frustrating, and i have *so much* to say.

city hall made policy choices that ensured:
-buses run slower
-are more crowded
-service costs more

This past fall, Montreal pedestrianized a section of street in front of this elementary school to reduce traffic and give the 400 or so students (who mostly walk to school) more space.

Last month the first section of Seoul's GTX Line A (solid red line) opened. The GTX system is Seoul's a higher speed regional railway system, an RER in steroids if you may. Tho this section is just a bunch of infill stations on the existing SRT high speed line. A Thread.

Why encourage cycling to work?

Bicycles deserve a significant role in an employer’s mobility policy:
✅ Cycling is healthy
✅ Bicycles take up less parking space than cars
✅ The bicycle is fast, specifically in an urban environment.
