It feels like at this point Notre Dame should’ve (very publicly) counter-offered. Take the early September matchup for ‘26-‘27 but force an additional home and home for ‘28-‘29 where both the ND and USC home games are played Thanksgiving week.
We’re quickly approaching the point where Greg Sankey should probably be charged with something. What he and his ilk have done to College Football is unforgivable.
This would be an ok argument if they didn’t get throttled. How many other teams can you point to that are the “better” team and managed to get shutout in a 3-score loss?
Perfect proof of why there may be a bit more nuance to this than blindly using SOS metrics that are already heavily biased towards SEC teams purely for the benefit of ESPN.

Fan of an SEC school espouses the benefits of conference affiliation in the wake of their best teams all getting absolutely killed when they are finally forced to play actual football teams outside of the cupcakes in the SEC. Bum take
Interesting to hear analysis of “feminized men” from the person seemingly advocating for the rights of armed federal agents to materially damage your vehicle on an illegal traffic stop
Good on Freeman for saying this. The hard part is he’s absolutely right and ND did leave doubt. The harder part is that we were apparently the only team that standard applied to…
If a 13th ranked top-5 conf champ gets in and you don’t think that’s a problem but ND getting in at 12 is a problem you are at best inconsistent and at worst just pretty dumb
Not a fan of the carve out but does it seem odd to anyone that in a playoff supposedly featuring the *12 best teams* that this would ever be seen as “necessary” by ND? That they would need a provision to be included in the 12-team playoff as one of the top 12 teams?
