GREAT GREAT news for child and maternal health in #BuildBackBetter bill: 1. States will be required to continuously enroll kids in Medicaid/CHIP for 12 MOE 2. All states must provide 12 mos of postpartum coverage in M + C 3. Permanent CHIP + ELE Including $ for outreach

Great news - Section 30731 of #BuildBackBetter has permanent, large increase in federal #Medicaid $, annually adjustd, and permanent increase in matching rates for #PuertoRico & other territories. Will sustain existing programs & allow for significant improvements over time.

#BuildBackBetter bill also temporarily increases federal matching rate for #Medicaid expansion states from 90% to 93% for 3 years. Helps ensure existing expansion states keep it & encourages non-expansion states to expand (on top of current Rescue Plan incentives).

Thread (my first!): The new #BuildBackBetter framework not only creates a path to coverage for more than 2 million uninsured people who lack any path to coverage b/c their states failed to expand Medicaid, it makes other far-reaching improvements to Medicaid and CHIP. (1/14)

New House Build Back Better legislation will increase health coverage and make it more affordable for millions of people cbpp.org/research/healt…

Millions of people have been denied health care for a decade bc Republican state policymakers have refused to expand Medicaid. That’s about to come to an end through the BBB legislation. Hard to overstate what a big deal this is nytimes.com/2021/11/01/us/…

The House has just PASSED the #BuildBackBetter package including vital measures that #LowerDrugPricesNow, extend affordability assistance to all who buy coverage on their own, and improve Medicare and Medicaid! BBB is a BFD!

As Oklahoma rounds out its sixth month of Medicaid expansion, the state reports that 217,259 people have enrolled. That is fantastic at anytime but especially during a pandemic - having improved access to care and the security of knowing that COVID-19 won't bankrupt you.

If Build Back Better becomes law, it would be the most significant step towards universal coverage since Obamacare. Reed Abelson, Margot Sanger-Katz, Sheryl Gay Stolberg and I look at how it would bring coverage to over 3 million people through a slew of new programs. nytimes.com/2021/12/01/us/…

NEW: The politics around Medicaid expansion in Missouri and Oklahoma were remarkably similar, so why has one enrolled essentially 100% of newly eligible people while the other has enrolled just 7%? Basically OK jumped in while MO slogged.

There are millions of uninsured people eager for Congress to fill the #Medicaid coverage gap — even for a few years. Amy Goldstein highlights a few of their stories: washingtonpost.com/health/medicai…

BREAKING: HHS announces a record 13.6 million Americans have signed up for ACA health coverage - with a month still to go in Open Enrollment.

Here's my story on the record Obamacare enrollment numbers today. They are the result of an intentional set of Biden admin policies. But a major piece of that strategy could expire if BBB doesn't become law. nytimes.com/2021/12/22/ups…
