I am in Uganda: the country hosting the most refugees in Africa. Every month 10,000 new refugees arrive here, escaping violence in neighbouring DR Congo and now Sudan. Uganda’s refugee policies are generous but public services are overstretched. A collective response is needed.

Since January, over 41,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩 have sought safety in Uganda 🇺🇬, bringing the total number of Congolese in Uganda to nearly 600,000. Matthew Crentsil, head of UNHCR Uganda, warns that reception centres at the border are overflowing.
