IFA National Sheep Chair Kevin Comiskey visited the farm of John Healy in Moneygal, Co Offaly today where 50 lambs were attacked and killed by dogs over the weekend. IFA are tonight meeting with Minister Charlie McConalogue to discuss the necessary actions needed to curb such attacks.

This cow has been with us for 7 years, she’s calved every year. She’s one of the quietest cows on the farm. This is why you should never trust any of them. Last night wasn’t a good one. Dani is ok, just bruised, but if she was lone working it could of been different. Hellish.

This is more evidence of the livestock sector getting on with what it needs to do. It’s not about cutting food production, it’s not about reducing numbers, it’s about using science & innovation to reduce EMISSIONS from the sector. Breeding will play a huge role over coming years.
