Come check out my #exo3 poster on retrieval analysis of SPHERE and GPI observations of 51 Eri b, a cool (both literally and figuratively) directly-imaged exoplanet. We get constraints of mass, radius, TP structure, chemical abundances of H2O, CH4 and NH3, plus a C/O value!

New paper up on the arxiv today! If a planet-forming system is undergoing gravitational instability, then ALMA Observatory📡 should detect the "GI Wiggle" in channel maps of molecular line observations (circled below). arxiv.org/abs/2007.15686

New paper up on the arxiv! Led by former PhD student Jack Humphries, we ask under what conditions ALMA would be able to detect pre collapse GI protoplanets - you can read it here: arxiv.org/abs/2008.04014

Excited to announce our paper is on arXiv this morning after being accepted to MNRAS! We use Monte-Carlo radiative transfer models to analyse the impact of dust trapping on our ability to detect spiral substructure in self-gravitating discs. arxiv.org/abs/2008.09826

Quick post about our new paper, led by James Cadman, with support from @cassidentprone, @tharries and Pamela Klaassen (who doesn't appear to be on Twitter). It's a bit long, but I didn't have time to make it shorter :-)

Planets are born from chaos! 💥🌀🪐 ALMA image of the planet-forming disk around the young star RU Lup, showing a giant set of spiral arms made out of gas. The structure extends to nearly 1000 astronomical units (AU) from the star! 😱 (1 AU=149.597.871 km)

Very excited about this new paper coming out! This work is a double achievement for me: 1) I managed to convince theorists (James Cadman, @cassidentprone and Ken Rice) to run simulations to test what I thought was going on in my observations💪 2) It actually worked🥳 🧵👇
