On average, smokers spend £47 a week on tobacco. That’s nearly £2,500 a year to spend on other things once you quit! 💰🚭 #TodayIsTheDay #NoSmokingDay #WeAreBartsHealth

Smoking is still the biggest cause of death and cancer in the UK, causing around 54,000 cases a year. This #NoSmokingDay, will you help end smoking-related cancers by asking your MP to support our #SmokefreeUK campaign? cruk.ink/3JjE9R4

Quitting 🚭is hard, it took me 25 years. Everyone should have the best chance of stopping, which is why I want the UK Govt implement a #Smokefree Fund to provide vital funding for stop smoking services. The tobacco industry, not the taxpayer, must pay. #NoSmokingDay Cancer Research UK Policy

1/Today for #NoSmokingDay, our Cancer Campaigns Ambassadors, supported by over 2,000 fellow campaigners in England, are urging the UK Govt to take action on tobacco now. This is our message to the Health Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer, Steve Barclay & Sir Jeremy Hunt MP.

2/Smoking is still the biggest cause of cancer, causing around 150 cases of cancer a day in the UK. Since the last Tobacco Control Plan for England expired in 2022, around 10,000 peoples’ lives have been changed forever with a smoking-attributable cancer diagnosis.

5/Not only do we have no plan to tackle tobacco in England, projections suggest that the UK Govt is also almost a decade behind achieving its target for England to be smokefree by 2030. To protect people from smoking-related cancers, England needs a plan to tackle tobacco now.

7/We’ve called upon the UK Govt to put families and our health system first in the upcoming Spring Budget and implement a Smokefree Fund. This would use industry funds, without industry interference, to pay for the measures and services needed to help people quit smoking.

NI Cancer Strategy is one year old today. Not much of a happy birthday. With no Executive there's no budget and much of the strategy is on the long finger. NI cancer patients deserve better.

Today's the day! Today we are speaking with #OneCancerVoice to hand in our petition to UK Prime Minister. England is facing a #canceremergency & we need dedicated action from the Govt. >75,000 signees have joined our call. Now it's time for the PM to hear us.

This matters so much. I didn't know I had kidney cancer until it was found by accident in an unrelated scan + my consultant reacted by sending me to a colleague in the renal unit. Testing could make such a big difference and touch so many lives. #OneCancerVoice must to be heard.

Today we’re heading to Westminster, along with more than 60 other charities, to hand in the #OneCancerVoice petition to UK Prime Minister. We’re calling on the government to improve the experience and outcomes of people affected cancer, including stem cell transplant patients.

Wouldn’t this be great here too Steve Barclay? Evidence shows countries with dedicated, long term, well funded #cancer plans, have far better cancer outcomes. Over 60 cancer charities talking with #OneCancerVoice were telling Rishi Sunak the same thing 👇 news.cancerresearchuk.org/2023/03/29/one…
