Some things just need to be photographed! One of the best parts about doing wetland work is being able to see a wide variety of flowering plants. #Wetland #Wetlands #Flower @wetlandsolutionsinc instagram.com/p/CFK7mSHluZU/…

Happy #FlowerFriday! This beautiful wetland plant is pickerel weed (Pontederia cordata). They range from Northern Florida to Canada and over to Texas and Missouri. They love slow moving water, which makes them a great wetland plant. #Wetland #Pickerelweed #Flower #Water

This is a pitcher plant, one of the few carnivorous plants in North America. The pitcher plant will collect water in the bottom of the deep "pitcher" luering in flies and trapping them with the hair-like fibers allowing them to break down the flies and collect the nutrients!

Look how cool this soil transition from clay to peat is! While preforming a study, it was interesting to find how soil types and horizon depths in a smaller area can differ.

On Monday our team spent countless hours documenting artesian spring flows during tide conditions in the Cross Florida Barge Canal. This is dedication for a data driven team that is passionate about a project!

Did you know a wide range of waterfowl are dependent on wetlands for some portion of their life cycle? Whether it is for breeding, protection, nesting, feeding or maybe a spot to stop and rest during migration, wetlands are an important habitat! Can you name this species?

The bald cypress can be seen in wet areas around the District and Florida. Growing to around 150 feet tall, the trees are distinctive for their “knees” that form aboveground. The base is wide, providing the tree with steady footing in wet conditions. sjrwmd.com/streamlines

Congratulations to the City and District on their work to protect our region's water resources. We have been proud to be part of this project since its inception. This project's success clearly demonstrates the benefit of groundwater recharge wetlands to our springs.

Love Sweetwater Wetlands Park? Did you know it wasn’t only created to be a nature preserve? It was created to naturally clean water before it goes into the Floridan aquifer. #winning Lee Feldman gainesville.com/story/news/202…
