This weekend is my great-uncle's Centennial. His story is remarkable - born in a village of <100 people, mostly illiterate, dodging Partition, to The Nobel Prize for cracking the genetic code & synthesizing the first artificial gene. dawn.com/news/1668120

Huge congrats Rachel Kratofil 🔬, awesome story!!

Bacteria are small but tough organisms, partly because their cells are enclosed by a protective cell wall skeleton.🦠These interesting findings by Professor Felipe Cava and his team, along with collaborators at Harvard Medical School, are now published in nature. mynewsdesk.com/umea_universit…

Congratulations to Dr. Blake Bertrand on his recent publication using CITE-seq to identify a novel population of immune suppressive granulocytes (G-MDSCs) during S. aureus biofilm infection! doi.org/10.1093/jleuko… Journal of Leukocyte Biology UNMC Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology

🎉Check out this spotlight feature on Dr. Sujata Chaudhari receiving a prestigious NSF CAREER Award! 👏Congratulations! Sujata Chaudhari unmc.edu/newsroom/2024/…

I’m honoured, humbled (& shocked, to be honest) to receive a scientific award. It means a lot that it comes jointly from Microbiology Society & British Mycological Society Thank you to all my colleagues who’ve supported me through my training & career to date MRC Centre for Medical Mycology Exeter Biosciences Research at Exeter

Excited to share our work in Journal of Clinical Investigation showing that glycolytic metabolism is critical for the anti-inflammatory effects of G-MDSCs during biofilm infection. Great work by lead authors Chris Horn and Prabhakar and a great team University of Nebraska Medical Center jci.org/articles/view/…

Excited to share this work from Lee Korshoj in Nature Communications on a new bacterial scRNA-seq platform we used to demonstrate S. aureus biofilm heterogeneity and transcriptional adaptations to immune cell populations. rdcu.be/d1gAw UNMC Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology #biofilm
