Narcissists are jealous and vindictive because their deep-rooted insecurities and desire for power over others prevent them from feeling empathy. All they can think about is one-upping and comparing themselves to others, and then spinning wild lies when they fall short.

Narcissistic abuse doesn’t always take the form of visible physical violence. It’s often degradation, humiliation, blaming, infidelity, withholding resources, and isolation, all carried out behind closed doors so the narcissists have full control of the victim and the narrative.

Devaluation plays a major role in narcissistic abuse, because narcissists can chip away their targets self-esteem so much that they will actually start to believe that they don’t deserve to be respected at all. This is why you must never tolerate disrespect once you recognize it.
