How has crossing paths with a narcissist changed the way you experience the world?

Narcissists will constantly dismiss their victims’ emotions as being “argumentative” or “too sensitive”. They employ such gaslighting tactics in order to avoid responsibility for their actions and instead place the blame on the victims.

Narcissists will offer victims what they need the most then discard them and leave them with less than what they started with. The longer victims try to stay with the narcissist hoping to get what was promised, the more the narcissist takes.

Arrogance will almost always be a narcissist’s ultimate downfall. They overestimate themselves and their abilities and they underestimate their targets and victims on all levels.

When problems arise, narcissists don’t see them as challenges that need to be solved, but rather as failures that need to be blamed on someone else. You cannot overcome problems with someone who would rather blame you as a solution than work through them with you.

Narcissists will always try to blame you and make you feel guilty for the hurt they cause. Victim blaming is what abusers do best.

Narcissists are the worst form of evil because they paint themselves as a “good person” and you don’t notice the monster beneath the mask until it’s too late and they have already dug their talons into your life in some way.

Narcissists favor partners and “friends” who challenge them the least and enable them the most. They don’t want genuine connections, they want pawns who support their delusions.

True healing begins when you can finally see how pathetic and fake the narcissist is. When the mask comes off and you finally get the full view of what you were dealing with, that’s when letting go is possible. You’re not losing a genuine connection, you’re escaping an abuser.

Narcissists do not lack the ability to observe and identify the state of people’s well-being, their needs, or what they are feeling, what they lack is regret, remorse, and humanity. They make conscious and calculated decisions to be selfish and insensitive.

Covert narcissists will usually have a public persona that can be perceived as “meek” or “gentle”. They are easily offended and when faced with confrontation they will assume the role of the victim and use guilt to manipulate others into being on “their side” and enabling them.

Trying to get through to a narcissist by explaining your feelings and telling them all the things that hurt you will only further enable them to break you down until you crumble. They have no intention of changing or improving, and will only exploit the vulnerabilities you share.

Because narcissists are controlling, entitled, and superficial to an extreme, they will not hesitate to tell you how you “should be” living, or which of your boundaries and standards are “wrong”.

The fact that narcissists are cable of curating their attitude and behavior depending on what they need/want in the moment is proof that they DO know what they’re doing. They KNOW they have a choice whether to be abusive and use people or not, they do it because they WANT to.

There are thousands of abuse survivors who all agree that certain seemingly-innocuous behaviors are abusive and abnormal, and they all have proof in their personal experiences from facing toxic monsters first-hand, yet abusers and their enablers will still deflect, deny, and lie.

Never expect to get any truth or honesty from a narcissist. You will never witness any kind of genuine behavior from a delusional individual who has to lie to themselves every day just to protect their fragile ego.
