Another amazing story of community banding together to save lives. Well done to former Life Saving Victoria President Mike Martin and wife Carol; both great Anglesea SLSC people!

Out on the water today for summer requal number 20, just in time for peak season. Awesome to do my requal with Williamstown Life Member Neil Emmett, who is doing an incredible requal number 47!

Simon was CEO at #MSAC when I started in the industry aged 15. Never too busy to come and speak to his staff, he showed me what authentic leadership was. He was the first to show that elite sport could exist alongside community in sports facilities. Vale an industry titan.

In Victoria, there are just as many, if not more, fatal drownings in our inland waterways as our coastal locations. It's important to not be complacent about water safety - no matter where you are. Read here: bit.ly/48EzLq3

At Life Saving Victoria this morning with GM Lifesaving Liam Krige talking about the tragedy at Forrest Caves with Sunrise and The Today Show. Drownings like this are absolutely preventable, before heading out this weekend head to beachsafe.org.au and find out where we are!

I see Acting Premier Tim Pallas whose government is paying stop go sign holders 206 thousand dollars a year has demanded police agree to a pay deal or he will escalate the dispute to the Fair Work Commission.

A prominent Victorian has floated the idea of a one day match tomorrow. It has been put to CA officials. Suggestion is to put $1m up for the winning team. Throw back to January 1971 after three days rained out in the Melbourne Test the first limited overs match played.

“Swim between the flags” is just one tool in the tool box for lifesavers and lifeguards. A large part of their role is being active, engaging with beachgoers and making sure they understand where is safe. Surf Life Saving Australia is now patrolling “beyond the flags” more than ever.
