Gaza is facing famine. According to The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, 100% of people are acutely food insecure; in the North, 70% are facing famine. Hunger can’t be used as a weapon of war. W/ Janez Lenarčič, we urge Israel to allow free, unimpeded, safe humanitarian access. europa.eu/!qmDgvB

Palestinians in Gaza are enduring horrifying levels of hunger and suffering. This is the highest number of people facing catastrophic hunger ever recorded by the Integrated Food Security Classification system –anywhere, anytime - António Guterres

Over 1 million people in Gaza – half the population – are facing catastrophic hunger and starvation. To prevent outright famine, World Food Programme and partners need safe, immediate and full access to the north.

“I promised myself that I would never get to the point of saying ‘we can’t describe this’. Today, I just wish that I could have captured the number of mum’s who greeted me in tears because they’re running out of ways to protect their children from starvation &bombs” James Elder

"I wish I could be in Gaza & stand in front of a Palestinian family & be strong enough to protect them...I am pained that I have to watch, essentially, a murder underway." Powerful words from South African FM to me. Watch the full interview & subscribe: zeteo.com/p/exclusive-so…

Famine is imminent in #Gaza. More than 1 million people are at risk because they have been cut off from life-saving aid. "We know that once famine is declared, it is way too late. We also know that, with action and goodwill, it can be averted," stresses Tom Fletcher.

"From this crossing, we see the heartbreak & heartlessness of it all. A long line of blocked relief trucks on one side of the gates. The long shadow of starvation on the other. That is more than tragic. It is a moral outrage." – António Guterres at Rafah. news.un.org/en/story/2024/…
