Prepare for bus difficulties on Labour Day Monday as Monash University does not observe it as a public hol. Most buses are running only a skeleton (Saturday) service with up to 120 minute gaps on Dandenong routes like 800 & 804 & no service on 802. #springst #Fix800Bus Gabrielle Williams

Absolutely massive. The ACT is also the only jurisdiction to cap rental increases in this country. Might not be "optimal" from the perspective of the market economy but places like Sydney have rental markets which are entirely broken.

Building on Howard Maclean’s critique of the absence of land use in elite policy discourse I was struck in @jollyswagmanpod’s excellent interviews with former Treasury Secretary Ken Henry about how little interest that generation of policymakers seemed to have in urban economics

For no good reason, macroeconomics has always been the more influential and prestigous field of economics. It's truly absurd that our field doesn't spend a lot more of its intellectual capacity dealing with these policy areas, whether it transport, planning, justice, energy etc.

How on earth would you practically go about "ditching the RBA"? Lend money to one another at some kind of handshake rate? Create your own unrecognised currency? I think I'm done with today.

Cars kill in three ways: Displacement of walking PM2.5 (tailpipe, tires, brakes) Blunt force trauma EVs may address tailpipe emissions; depends on source of e-. They are not less lethal in a crash. They do not address the inversion where cities have prioritized cars over people.
