As of December 2022, more than 18,500 armed clashes and attacks occurred, 1.2 million people are displaced, and more than 2,500 civilians killed and 1500 arrested.

The economy shrank by 15%, inflation rose to 19.4%, poverty doubled to 40%, and 34% of the population need humanitarian aid. Despite the cruelties of the junta, the pro-democracy movement of the people are getting stronger.They are now in control of most of the areas in Myanmar.

I have met, and will continue to engage, the NUG, NUCC and other stakeholders. They are very committed and we must not fail them.

Today, ASEAN and the international community must do more. On one hand, support the people movement by openly engaging the NUG, NUCC and other stakeholders to implement a framework that has a clear end game that is led by the people.

On the other hand, apply more solid sanctions on the junta in terms of military assets, supplies and military-related fuel.

Two years since the military seized power, this is #WhatIsHappeningInMyanmar. The UK will keep working with Ambassador @KyawTun62907405 in New York to let the world know what the junta is doing, until the country is returned to the people and democracy restored.

Not sure what's Facebook policy behind suppressing activists' accounts and pages posting about #Myanmar Spring Revolution (sometimes even banned) even though they don't incite violence. Instead, we are seeing more military's psywar fake accs and clickbait garbage contents.

Since the Feb 2021 coup in #Myanmar, 3400 people have been killed, 21,000 arrested, and more than 1 million displaced. The military junta has also banned 40 political parties from participating in future “elections.” But the Generals have no legitimacy and no long-term future.
