Teacher twitter is full of amazing, inspirational teachers. Don’t forget the teachers who inspired you; created you and made you who you are. Love to the retired teachers, those who don’t use social media, who have shaped next generation teachers 😍😍 Ideas recycle.

Clare Sealy Critics of cognitive science mostly ignore the inclusion of Elaborative Interrogation (ie meaning-making) otherwise it would deflate their you’re-only-teaching-rote-learning. Fiorella & Mayer’s Learning As A Generative Activity also destroys this myth.

Michael J. Crawford, PhD Alex Shevrin Venet I’m not sure I have a good answer. I think kids need agency, time to grapple w meaningful problems ... and teachers can teach and do more than ‘facilitate’. Indeed, our choices have a stronger impact than words like ‘facilitate’ would suggest

“They teach us everything here, like the alphabet, and we get to play. And they teach us how to say ‘Meow’! Meow! Meow!” Five-year-old Rimas on her first day at a UNICEF-supported school in Za’atari Refugee Camp, Jordan. 🐱🐱🐱 #ChildrenUprooted

Learning walks - someone enters and teacher scrambles to “do something” to “look effective”. We lost track of what great learning is somewhere and killed off many a great teacher in the process.

Visited the catholic church along Mai Mahiu road. It was built by Italian slaves. It's the smallest church in the country. Can house maybe 10 people, seated.

Seen quite a few tweets about marking this weekend, coloured pens, targets, triple marking nonsense. Most of it being done to evidence it for SLT and absolutely no benefit to the pupils. If it doesn’t help the children you shouldn’t be wasting your time doing it.

After reading ‘Keeper of the Lost Things’ I loved the idea of writing a story about someone who had lost an item, and how it happened. Today, Children in Y5 & 6 found items and planned storylines based around them. Had some amazing ideas from such simple things! #WhatITaughtToday

Long before I served at the United Nations or held any public office in my own country, I was a teacher. In the slums of Lisbon, I learned that education is a force for dignity, opportunity and peace. bit.ly/2TYCsMj #EducationDay

The children peeled and chopped vegetables for our soup with @Mrs_P_77. We cooked it on the fire, describing it as we did so and reminding eachother about keeping safe. With a side of warm bread, we then gathered around to chat and enjoy eating what we had made together.
