On Aug21 #1968 the hopes & dreams of an entire generation of Czechs&Slovaks were crushed by the armies of the Warsaw Pact. Soviet occupation lasted for 21 yrs. Today, with Russia’s attack on #Ukraine we are reminded again that the fight for freedom and democracy never ends.

My deepest condolences to the The Royal Family, the people of the UK & the entire Commonwealth. Queen Elizabeth II.’s seven decades of steadfast leadership & dedication to the service to her country through many global changes have made her a role model & an inspiration for us all.

#OTD 81 years ago Slovak State ratified the Jewish Code, stripping Jews of their human rights. More than 7️⃣0️⃣ thousand Jews died in Nazi camps. I strongly condemn any regime that deprives citizens of their human rights, incites racism, xenophobia, oppression & discrimination.

Barbara Winton (+68) passed away. Passionate advocate of refugees rights and decent daughter, promoting memory and life values of her great father Sir Nicholas Winton, who rescued 669 Czechoslovak Jewish children in 1939. RIP, heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.🕯
