Child trauma does this to you. I live with this. This is part of people pleasing/fawning, which is a trauma response designed to avoid conflict by placing others needs above your own (and avoid the chance to be rejected by others by not interacting with others).

Also as a note, even if you don't think you grew up with trauma, you can still experience trauma and not realize it. Simply growing up Autistic/ADHD/Neurodivergent in an unsupported environment is traumatic. Being neglected is traumatic. Being bullied is traumatic.

For those asking how to fix/heal from this: Therapy, but particularly EMDR therapy, which is specifically designed to process unprocessed memories & trauma. Talk therapy may not be useful, as trauma gets stored in the fear centers of the brain, and needs to be processed first.
