Utilising drought resilient growing methods are vital due to our local weather conditions. We are hoping to use wicking beds to ensure a significant reduction in the amount of water needed and a reduction in the frequency of watering also #SDG12 #educ4750 #UoNTeach

This article is such a great resource! Our school will be using vertical gardens as a means of saving space and preventing pests (something very important in regional NSW at the moment) #SDG12 #UoNteach #edcu4750 learn.eartheasy.com/guides/vertica…

I love this! Students are able to gain so much from projects such as community gardens. They are not only learning about sustainable gardening practices but also skills such as patience and persistence #UoNTeach #Educ4750 #SDG12

To save water in our school's #communitygarden we will be implementing some of these water-saving strategies. In particular the use of a drip irrigation system. What strategies will you all be implementing? #SDG12 #UoNTeach #Educ4750

I will be decorating my classroom with these Sustainability posters so my students are always reminded of the importance of sustainable practices. What are some other ways we can reiterate to our students the importance of sustainability? #SDG12 bit.ly/3wGI1mK

Wouldn't this be an amazing way to explore self-sufficient ecosystems with our students?! We should endeavor to make our school's gardens as self sufficent and #sustainable as possible #SDG12 #UoNTeach #Educ4750

Very pleased to have found this rodent-proof composting advice abc.net.au/gardening/fact… the #miceplague in #westernnsw is causing tremendous damage at the moment. Rodents love compost bins as they provide warmth, nesting materials, and food #UoNTeach #Educ4750 #SDG12

Hoping to utilise this amazing initiative within my school project! They mentioned on their website that one school involved was able to recycle enough soft plastics to create a bench seat. I wonder what my school will create? Maybe something for our garden? #SDG12 #Educ4750

Thanks for sharing Lachlan. I would love to find ways to use VR to aid my students in exploring #SDG12 there are a multitude of virtual garden tours available online!Wouldn’t it be amazing to take our students on a tour of the Royal Botanic Gardens in England! #UoNTeach #Educ4750

Composting is such an inexpensive way to reduce the need for chemical fertilisers and help retain soil moisture. Students should be encouraged to compost their food scraps but did you also know that cardboard, eggs shells and coffee grounds could be added to compost piles? #SDG12

Wow! Look at the positive impact that #wormfarming can have. The good bacteria in worm juice helps put nitrogen back into the soil. Worm farms have a small set up cost and then they are basically free to run once set up #SDG12

What a great cross curriculum opportunity for our students! What other art projects could we implement within our school garden for our students to create? #SDG12

FAO provides students and teachers with such valuable information about maintaining their school gardens. It’s so important that students can understand the process of growing healthy food as well as the importance of eating healthy food #SDG12 #UoNteach

I would love for my students to be given the opportunity to learn about Aboriginal perspectives in relation to agricultural practices. It would be great for them to hear about some of the first crops grown here in Australian such as yams and native grains #SDG12 #UoNTeach
