The response to our campaign to get Council to send the Windsor St Exchange design back to the drawing board has been impressive. We have been cc’d on a number of letters , some long and involved and some short and sweet. We have reached over 10,000 people! It’s not too late.

The Halifax Cycling Coalition Halifax Cycling, It's More Than Buses, Walk n Roll Hfx are calling on HRM Council to improve the design for the Windsor Street Exchange redevelopment -- to have more of a focus on pedestrian and cycling safety, and transit! Take a look:

Thread: Council are being asked to make the biggest pre-IMP style road capacity increasing decision in recent history today. $104,000,000 will be spent to support 40% more vehicles by 2031, a forecast with no evidential basis or policy commitment.

Joint action was taken by Halifax Cycling, It's More Than Buses & Walk n Roll Hfx to propose connected separated bike lanes, sidewalks & bus lanes. Staff rejected this due to the impact upon their solo objective, contrary to policy, to design for more vehicles.

Many people have responded to this campaign and written to or phoned their councillor. Which makes the refusal to allow public speaking in circumstances of a decision made against high level policy all the more unacceptable
