Look at that surge! August 2024 brings a new monthly sunspot number (SN) record high for Solar Cycle 25. The monthly SN was 215.5, up from the previous record high of 195.5 in July. This is the highest monthly SN since September 2001 (238.2). SC24 only got up to 146.1 (Feb 2014).
