Great to see members of Scottish Parliament vote in favour of the Tobacco & Vapes Bill – this is a significant milestone in our mission to end cancers caused by smoking in the UK. It’s vital the legislation is passed in all four nations for a #SmokefreeUK.

Following a meeting last week with leaders from Tesco, British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, we’ve written to @WesStreeting calling on the Government to restrict the promotion of unhealthy food and drink, and introduce mandatory reporting on healthy food sales.

Our latest analysis shows the progress we've made thanks to research, but that there is still much to be done. The UK government has a great opportunity to transform cancer services, improve early diagnosis and save lives through the National Cancer Plan.

Great to be at the #NHSConfedExpo this week - and even better to hear directly from #wesstreeting about his bold ambitions for the NHS, and for Cancer. To improve outcomes in England ( and all the UK)- we must: 1) deliver rapid progress for the T&V bill 2) meet all cancer waiting

This report highlights that around the world there are millions of cancer deaths that could be prevented, and each country is facing its own unique challenges. We need governments to act, including here in the UK with the rapid implementation of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill.

New analysis by @cr_uk has revealed cancer clinical trials are taking far too long to set up. This illustrates why a single, streamlined NHS R&D approval process across all the locations a trial is taking place is so important. Read more: cancerresearchuk.org/sites/default/…

A new study from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine we funded has revealed a 92-percentage point gap in 10-year survival between the most & least deadly cancers. It's vital the National Cancer Plan for England transforms cancer care & boosts survival across all cancer types. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

My The House magazine op-ed is online. In it I make the case for the Tobacco & Vapes Bill - a vital step to protect future generations from a deadly addiction. With over 78m cigarettes smoked daily in Britain, the fight isn’t over - Parliament must act now. politicshome.com/members/articl…

Great to see Cancer Research UK campaigns ambassadors launching our cancer manifestos in Scotland and Wales ahead of next year’s elections. With bold and urgent action, politicians in both nations can reduce cancer inequalities and save lives.

🚭The smokefree generation policy will mean that anyone born on/after 1 Jan 2009 will never be able to legally be sold  tobacco. 🔦This means that the age of sale will go up by one year, every year until eventually no one will be able to be sold tobacco. (2/5)
