Ah, yes, this looks like it's worth a proper read. 'Avoidable amendments can also contribute to research waste..'. Quite so. I do wonder whether we can avoid some of these by building some flexibility into the original submission (plus better planning of course)

The managed decline of the NHS since 2010 was always going to end in mass staff vacancies (150,000+), mass avoidable harm, mass migration of staff to countries that value them more & mass industrial action. Negligent oversight, planning & funding have led us to this NHS disaster.

Excellent. Looks like this will be well over 150,000 signatures ahead of the live-streamed debate on Monday. If you’ve not yet signed, please do so here —> petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6282…

Jacob Vanderlint in Money Answer’s All Things in 1734 gave a budget for a laborer, wife+4 children in London of 16shillings per week to cover meat, bread, milk, salt, sugar, butter, cheese and beer (to avoid perils of water), coal, soap, candles, thread and rent for two rooms.

We might add on another two shillings for crisis expenses, transport, clothes and medicines. In 1750 £1 was equivalent to £284 purchasing power in 2023. That’s £256 per week or £1109 per month for the family costs in 2023 prices

For a family of 2adults and 4 kids on Universal Credit you’ll receive £579 for adults plus £315 for first child and £270 for the second child. Total £1164. So the purchasing power in 2023 is roughly the same for a poor family at it was for a labouring father in London in 1750.

The government's "anti-boycott" legislation would ban public bodies from making ethical decisions on how to invest their money. I do not support this bill. Add your name with mine in defiance of the "anti-boycott" bill. palestinecampaign.eaction.online/noantiBDS
