Stephen Dedalus, displeased and sleepy, leaned his arms on the top of the staircase and looked coldly at the shaking gurgling face that blessed him, equine in its length, and at the light untonsured hair, grained and hued like pale oak.

#Bloomsday celebrates the life and work of James Joyce, one the world’s literary giants. Why Bloomsday? The day is named after Leopold Bloom, the protagonist of Joyce’s iconic novel Ulysses. Why June 16th? This is the date Ulysses is set, in 1904. #Bloomsday2022 #Ulysses100

He peered sideways up and gave a long slow whistle of call, then paused awhile in rapt attention, his even white teeth glistening here and there with gold points.

A few nights ago, I believe I had the honour of being the first paying customer to cross the threshold of the new Ulysses here in #Baltimore’s Mount Vernon. I found an establishment that reminded me of the bar in “The Shining” in a good way & sampled an excellent Manhattan.
