As a child we moved a lot. I went to 6 different schools from 2nd to 5th grade. I was perpetually the “new girl,” an outsider—trying unsuccessfully to assimilate. Worse yet, I stopped desiring close friendships—knowing I’d eventually have to leave them behind. Anyone else?
