5/6 math students began the new school year by establishing norms for group and partner work.

Ss work in groups to discover The Power of Parentheses with Byrdseed TV!

Fourth graders began thinking like scientists! Students were able to create a dichotomous key for classifying candy as a class, then they began working in small groups to create a key to classify shells!

Second graders demonstrated their understanding of point of view in the story Creepy Carrots. Students wrote a passage from the point of view of the carrots, and recorded their writing using ChatterPix. 🥕

Third graders have been learning about probability and fairness with the Game Factory Interact Unit. At the end of the unit, they will use the knowledge learned to design their own game! Hanover County Public Schools

Ss began learning about computational thinking, with a focus on pattern recognition & decomposition. Ss were able to play the game Cluemaster in small groups to practice their logic and deductive reasoning while looking for patterns and breaking down problems into smaller parts.

Using strategies from Building Thinking Classrooms, students use vertical non permanent surfaces and randomized groupings to encourage more discussions and collaboration in math!

Second graders wrapped up a unit on deductive thinking by playing logic games such as Chocolate Fix and Rush Hour!
