THIS IS NOT ECZEMA!! It is a Skin condition called PITYRIASIS VERSICOLOR or TINEA VERSICOLOR It is caused by a Fungi called MALASSEZIA FURFUR which lives normally on the skin & doesn't cause infection When situation that affect skin humidity or warmth happens it cause disease

The Fungi M. furfur produces a chemical called Azelaic Acid ,which has some sort of whitening effect on the skin It does this by blocking an enzyme (TYROSINASE) which is involved in production of Melanin (Remember Melanin gives Skin it's dark colour) This causes the lightening

Some Myths about PITYRIASIS VERSICOLOR - it does not mean the person is dirty - you cannot get it by hugging someone - it is transmitted by sharing clothes or underwear ( you should not share any of those by the way) - it is not spread by Sex -it can affect anyone

Inasmuch as a lot of skin conditions can look like this If you notice this light patches which can occur on the face, trunk, anywhere in the body You should see a Doctor who will treat you appropriately. No need to worry it is not a SKIN CANCER
