UPDATE: Following yesterday’s meeting with the Environment Agency, I am this morning asking the UK Health Security Agency UK Health Security Agency to carry out urgent on-site investigations into the level of health risk posed to local residents by these toxic emissions.

Positive news in response to campaigning from Bury Labour Party Andy Burnham Christian Wakeford MP Bury Council Rochdale Labour Group about the horrific impact of this landfill site on local people.

With work underway to resolve issues, we will keep up the pressure to make sure it is done ASAP

Yesterday I was invited over to the Pilsworth landfill site by the Leaders of Rochdale and Bury councils to hear the concerns of local residents about the stench.

What I experienced took me aback.

I am now calling an urgent meeting with Environment Agency to require immediate action.

Great to meet Andy Burnham today.

Labour is delivering for Radcliffe, and Andy has been a strong voice for towns like ours. He’s stood up to the Tory Government time and time again, and I’m in no doubt that Radcliffe West will vote to re-elect Andy in May!
