Well here’s a thing. Not only Violoncello da spalla in JS Bach but John Shea tells me that Sergey Malov is playing CPE Bach on it in tonight’s BBC Radio 3 Through the Night. I’m heading bed-wards rn but this is a classic case of an appointment with @bbcsounds!

Join us at 5pm today as The Early Music Show picks up in its new slot on BBC Radio 3. What better way to start than by introducing our gorgeous new New Generation Baroque Ensemble: Ensemble Augelletti! Olwen, Ellen & Toby join me in the studio to chat about the first bbc studio recording.

Looked through my phone for a pic of Leipzig’s Nikolaikirche to promote today’s BBC Radio 3 marking 300 years of the St John Passion. Seems the only one I have also includes my JSB action-man figure all set for the downbeat at 2pm.

What a night you had Linton Stephens. Most important thing is that you were not hurt- was so relieved to hear that, but it must have been beyond shocking. I hope you can go gently this weekend and recover, sending LOTS of love ❤️.

Just a quick reminder that you have two more weeks left to listen to me talking castrati, dragons and goddesses (and a reminder to anyone interested that I am still available for pre-1770 repertoire 😈😉):

Morning BBC Radio 3 Breakfasters - Happy leap day!
Traditions, customs & leaping music on the show this morning but are any of you ‘Leapers’ or ‘Leaplings’? Birthdays? Proposals? We’d love to hear your stories ([email protected])
Big one for Rossini, would’ve been 56 today! 😉
