Delighted to be in Oslo attending the Eighth International Parliamentarians Conference on the implementation of the ICPD programme of action. What a privilege to join parliamentarians from around the world to speak about midwives & midwifery International Confederation of Midwives
It's been said that midwives shouldn't talk about how the maternity crisis affects them. This paper today shows 93% of surveyed midwives score 'moderate to severe' for personal burnout. How can traumatised staff possibly provide an effective service?

Dr Jenny Hall I feel like we are on a loop with sure start centres. They open then close then reopen. The evidence is clear of their value. Its a one stop shop for MDT working that hugely contributes to the 1001 days of life!

We are pleased to share with our maternity staff today that after 8 months of trials, we will be implementing flexible rostering on a permanent basis! With around 150 midwives and 30 MSWs we have shown self rostering on this scale can be done #maternityretention #flexibleworking
