We are through arrivals and on our way to the hotel. How good it is to be back on Icelandic soil, breathing Icelandic air and conversing with the brilliant Icelandic people! Haileybury HaileyburyCocurricular

We have had our first stop of the day at Thingvellir. The forecast rain is nowhere to be seen. Long may it continue! Next stop: Gullfoss.

Skógafoss ✅ Seljalandsfoss ⏳ Did we get wetter at the base of the waterfall or when the pipe burst at the hotel last night? That’s the question. ⁉️

Thank you to Guesthouse Húsið for having us! We are now on the way to The Secret Lagoon, known locally as Gamla Laugin, the oldest swimming pool in Inspired by Iceland. (The pitch in the foreground of the beautiful second photo was graced by some football of questionable quality).

We are now back at the hotel in Hafnarfjörður having enjoyed a tour of Reykjavik from our guide, Karen. How lucky we have been with the weather! ☀️

Spot the #geographers exploring the plate boundary at the Bridge Between Continents. We are now on our way to Keflavík for lunch before heading to Keflavík Airport (KEF).

“Authorities have ordered overnight thousands living in the southwestern town of Grindavík to evacuate as a precaution”. This is certainly something to follow over the next few days, particularly for our Fifths who were in this region just last month! bbc.co.uk/news/world-eur…

We had a wonderful time in Yorkshire last week with Haileybury History. Drawing field sketches at The Drinking Dinosaur at Flamborough Head was one of the many highlights. Check out Dr Koon’s very impressive effort (he knows he still needs to add his labels and annotations!).

Our Removes have recently been developing their field sketch skills while learning about freshwater pond ecosystems. Thank you to Mr Lyon (Thomason House) and Mr Seccombe (Trevelyan Haileybury) for these photos!

This will do 😍 Yesterday was all about developing fieldwork skills to measure beach characteristics. Thanks to Miss Gasson for organising our inter-class rounders fixture in the evening, too!
