I'm starting a new series called "What I Compost in a Week" to share the importance of composting! With Eric Adams cutting the community compost program in NYC, all these foods will be sent to landfill. Sign the petition to voice your concern: grownyc.org/petition

The budget cuts to the NYC Community Compost program is completely unacceptable. This cut will eliminate over 50 RWDSU members at GrowNYCWorkers & displace important programs the community depends on. Curbside pickup isn't available for many New Yorkers gothamist.com/news/compost-c…

All 53 of GrowNYC’s composting employees expect to be laid off by Dec. 18, which means those orange GrowNYC composting tents that are a familiar sight at markets citywide will make their last appearances soon. gothamist.com/news/compost-c…

This is devastating. We cannot afford to lose community composting programs—especially at our greenmarkets. The New York City Council will be fighting these cuts.

We have just started negotiating our contract to make our workplace better, it is devastating to hear that 53 of us will be laid off 💔 We will keep fighting to serve our communities!

NYC parks are poised to lose more than 1,400 staffers under Mayor Adams’ latest budget cuts. With 1,700 parks in the city, the reduction in staff could mean parks are cleaned as little as once a week, among other consequences. gothamist.com/news/nyc-parks…

Amazing news! However, none of the community compost orgs should have to hope for anonymous donations to continue their work, esp in a city like NYC with $100+ billion budget & $8 billion in reserves. For context - the entire Community Composting budget is only $6 million.
