S1 and S3 Outdoor Learning groups Grove Academy made a ‘hygge’ home for nature. #KSBEcoAdvent. This is a beetle home made of tied sticks filled with leaves. #nature #wildlife. Scots may better understand a ‘coorie’ home.
Outdoor Learning groups from Grove Academy have been busy Green Growers. The bog garden is taking shape, the wood chip pile is now used to upgrade the path and we are trying our hand at creating a dead hege for wildlife. #Community
S4-S6 Personal Development Award groups met a team of Youth Ambassadors from Dundee Volunteer & Voluntary Action promoting volunteering to their peers. The Youth Ambassadors led groups & helped our young people learn the value of volunteering as they work on their Self and Work unit. #YouthEmpowerment
#SpringCleanScotland with Grove Academy Eco Group. The group went at lunchtime and collected litter from Davidson St, one of the streets flagged up by neighbours as being routinely littered by Grove pupils. #DundeeEcoschools #ProblemSolving
#SpringCleanScotland Grove Academy Eco Group clearing a local spot where littering occurs. 2kg of waste collected this time.
#RHSBloom60 began its Grove Academy journey with the S2 Outdoor Learning Group today. 5 different seeds sown. We made our own seed mix and “hatched” our seeds (we hope). We also made our own #WildFlower mix from our stored seeds and scattered that in our butterfly bed at school
Grove Academy Eco Group making great progress with Keep Scotland Beautiful #pocketgardencompetition. Our award winning design marked the start of the next creative phase when we actually have to build the garden. We are making progress on the 'cave' stage!
Building a bug hotel continues with another layer. Bee friendly wildflower seeds sowed in support of 38 Degrees A charity that supports small actions to create big changes. The seedlings from #RHSGrowWithIt are coming along nicely
#EcoSchhools reached the next stage of their design competition with @KSBScotland Thanks to Broughty Ferry UK Men’s Sheds Association for helping with the base. The garden is being installed at Queen St Community Garden. #ThisIsLforS
