Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus), Dungeness. Since it has a caught a tiddler I was going to say it had been fishing on Tom Tiddler's Ground. But then I looked up TTG on the whirly-white web and it suggests it refers to the game "I'm the king of the castle". The rascal

Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus) My garden is brutal. I heard a fierce buzzing of fly wings & looked up to see this flesh fly had got itself caught in the web. I hurried up the path to grab my camera and by the time I got back secs later the fly was wrapped. BAS

Common Darter (Sympetrum striatum), busily laying eggs on the mud on the flood in front of the hide, Bough Beech, today. Also witnessed a lot of Migrant Hawkers on the wing.

I've always liked Michaelmas Daisy (Symphyotrichum novi-belgii) and had thought about buying some. A few days ago I noticed I had one in flower in my front garden. An escapee. The Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels is 29 Sep. Here it is with dew on, at 0940 this morning.
